Depending on the line of business that one is in, a laptop can be your best friend, when one has work to do and lots of travelling to do as well he/she may take their laptop onto the plane and get in a few work hours.
A laptop is a smaller and more portable version of a computer, fairly popular amongst many, the laptop is mobile meaning you can take it virtually anywhere and work on it anytime you want without being restricted to a desk.

I have both a laptop and a desktop computer I prefer working on my laptop as I can move around with it and prefer how small and compact it is, plus I can sit on a recliner and still be productive with a laptop.

Some Technological Terms for Laptops


Laptops are becoming more popular than the old fashioned screen and hard drive box type PC’s. Most office environments have upgraded their office PC’s to laptops. Laptops have a greater flexibility as they can be taken with you to your meeting in the boardroom or to a meeting elsewhere. So whether you are a small concern, a private user or a company, it will be beneficial to understand some of the technological terms used for laptops. Also note that notebooks and laptops are the same thing. The term notebook is a more recent term used by all laptop manufacturers.
The Techno Terms
• Intel Processor: S.A.’s best known processor used in the majority of laptops and mainstream computers. (The Intel Pentium M used in laptops enhances the battery power saving capabilities)
• AMD Processor: These processors offer a higher performance and a lower power usage. AMD processors run cooler than the Intel Processors.
• Dual Core Processors: Dual/Duo core processors allow for better resource usage when multiple applications are running at the same time.
• Bluetooth: This is a wireless technology that allows users to connect to wireless keyboards, mice, cell phones, printers and pocket computers.
• Wireless Technology: Wireless Connectivity enables users to connect at hot-spots like the airport, office blocks and certain coffee shops.
• Centrino Technology: This is an Intel notebook technology that has various components to prolong battery life and to enhance performance.
Also note that wireless technologies on laptops are not the same as the mobile devices; 3G/GPRS/EDGE.
